christians eat the flesh and drink the blood of christ

I was so grossed out by this when I was ten I had a hard time swallowing the communion wafer. Fortunately the wine in Presbyterian services is Welch's. It really is a disgusting metaphor and I can tell you I won't be passing it on. But, hey, that's just me.

When I was at the hospital with my first child the nurse asked me if I wanted the afterbirth. "Huh?!!", says I. "Why would I want it?" She told me some people cook it up and eat it. I assume it is some sort of ritual or something because I've never seen a recipe. Now that is gross, but apparently it is a common enough custom that I was asked! Good grief, I'm a vegetarian.
