Sun servers w/ Athlons!
I hope that is a true story...can't you just see what would a volatile combination of faulty ECC-less Sun memory and overheated athlon cpu's do for Ebay's "reliability"?!!
Makes me laugh!

Milo,re:"Sun's Cobalt may launch AMD's Athlon into server market."

Wouldn't this just be the logical progression? Cobalt uses AMD parts today and I presume Sun's purchase of them only re-enforces this strategy.

It would be news worthy only if AMD was losing the design.

By the way, the price comparison between the K7 and the Xeon by the author was misplaced...Xeon doesn't compete in the 1U single-processor server segment...that's PIII and P4 territory.
