Well...it may all just be hype. But assuming that it isn't, and taking the titillating comments of the participants into account, in my opinion it has to be more than just another gadget - and that's all the scooter is, even with gyro controls, even in the various configurations that are presented in the patent applications.

For example, these products still leave the user open to the environment. What happens when it rains? Not great if you're in a suit, eh? And these would not require anything over and above the commonly found bike trails and wheelchair access constructs that are already found in most urban areas.

No, it must be something more than that.
