john 722: I agree entirely with your post.

I know it is wise to be quite skeptical of the anal-ysts but we can also carry this too far; there are some that do issue reports and opinions that are useful. In the case of the chip stocks, there is near unanimity amongst the analyst community that follows the semis that they will badly miss earnings and issue negative forward guidance during the first half of the year. The down cycle to the chip cycle will not occur until the Fall and this "rally" is indeed one to be sold into.

I think the NASDAQ can rally up to the 3000 level sometime between now and April. You can bet that if it does, I will unload every tech stock that I own prior April 1st. I have read too many astute reports that feel we will retest the NASDAQ lows later this year and I want to have maximum cash on hand to capitalize. After April 1st, I will be in: financials, healthcare, retailers, and much cash.

I learned a very painful and costly lesson last year about holding tech stocks past April. Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
