jbk- SBC did have some problems in their rollout of Pronto. SBC explains it well here at:
sbc.com It's an important newsletter for all AFCI investors. And I pulled out some details about Winstar, but can't recall the conclusion I came to. You may want to check them out in more detail too.

The new FCC chairman should also be of great interest to AFCI as it's crucial that the NGDLC plans by the ILECs are supported by the FCC. IMO Kennard was wishy-washy about rules surrounding the rollout. And IMO, what may have really stalled SBC(and others) in their NGDLC plans. Kennard just retired so it'll be interesting to see how his replacement treats this important subject. HTH. -MikeM(From Florida)

WSJ(1/23): Advanced Fibre And Sprint Unit In Multiyear Pact

From The Wall Street Journal
PETALUMA, Calif. -- Advanced Fibre Communications Inc. is expected to
announce today that it has signed a $200 million multiyear agreement with
Sprint North Supply, a subsidiary of Sprint Corp.
Under the three-year agreement, Sprint North Supply will purchase high-speed
Internet and other telecommunications equipment through Advanced Fibre.
Sprint North Supply is the distribution arm of Sprint, based in Westwood,
Kan.
