<<I was talking with a friend the other day and he live in Queens and he told me of a conversation he had with a rich successful doctor who lives in Scarsdale NY. They were commiserating about the fact that in these totally democrat high population density areas the cable companies and the phone companies did not provide cable modems or adsl broadband connections. The problem is that every all kinds of rules and regulations and rules and regulations create a situation where it is not profitable to offer these kinds of service in these high population areas.>>

Tom, I am very puzzled by this story. I live in Queens, and the local cable operator, Time-Warner cable, provides excellent high speed cable modem service--it is called "Roadrunner."

Here's where it's available: twcnyc.com

I have no idea whether this is also available to the rich doctor in Scarsdale, although DSL service is available in Scarsdale through Westnet. westnet.com
