Moderates are the battle ground- the people you want to control are the extreme members of "your" side- whatever side that is. Bingo! It's an amazing dynamic that interest groups not only don't police themselves, they let the most strident and outrageous ones get the most attention. Group members who try to restrain them are dubbed traitors so even those who understand how important it is rarely try. It's like people would rather bond in their discontent than work toward changing things so that the discontents go away. Karen
