It is always hardest to criticize your own- but in the end it makes you look noble and aids your cause if you can do it. I think blacks in this country need to realize how far we have come. I understand the struggle is not over- the struggle for all people to be blind to race will probably NEVER be over. We need to acknowledge that and move on in ways that are the least divisive. Of course we may argue about what those "least divisive" ways are- and to call people racist, because they simply see another way to get to the mountain top, is wrong, imo.

I taught a first grade class this week about Martin Luther King. It was an honor and a privilege. We read a book together about what King stood for. Children of every color were in this class- and I had them look around, and I said- "Mr King would be so proud of you. He wanted all little children to be able to sit together like this," and these children understood. I hope they will retain that understanding as they grow up.
