OT (kinda) Analysts are nuts! Is it just me or are these guys really crazy? I've been out looking for Bull Put Spread candidates for this four-day week with with expiration. The IBM 80/85 looks pretty except they should report earnings this week and... As of Friday the consensus estimate for EPS for the 4th quarter for IBM is $1.45. 3rd quarter, actual, was $1.08. Does this look just a little strange. According to the analysts, sales across the sector are depressed, right? Well how is it that the same analysts that say sales are down say that IBM grows EPS by 34% in the quarter? (.37/1.08, and last quarter was a surprise) That would average out to 137% yearly growth in EPS. So if IBM can't report $1.45 then they will have missed consensus estimate. Does anybody really think these guys have a shred of credibility? All of this applies to Dell as well. HJ
