I totally agree with this statement. Having said that, there is no substitute for the real experience. Start small with two or three contracts where the commission would not kill you, but you can still exit with relatively small loss.

The problem with gaining confidence with paper trade is that you will not have the same emotion when it is not real money. I found I was able to hold the positions much easier when it was on paper. But when one is losing real money, the overwhelming urge to preserve capital is sometimes very hard to resist.

Develop your strategy with paper trades. But one has to learn with real money.
