I live in an area that used to be mostly livestock pasture until it was sold, developed and parceled out in five acre lots. It's a common situation in the Eastern foothills of the Santa Clara valley which would be the Diablo Range. On the Western side are the Coast Range which get fairly regular fog and are therefore greener and more homey for redwoods and such. We are still in the fog belt to a lesser degree and there are redwoods nearby, but we, like our neighbors need to plant trees. In ten years the neighborhood will be a lot greener.
