<Any statistics on the newer high efficiency wood or pellet stoves?>

the stats i saw did not break it down further. i have a friend who was had an all electric home that was costing too much too heat so he put in a pellet stove. after about three years it caught fire in the attic and did $20,000 smoke damage to their home. the fire department and county engineer's office investigated expecting to find an improper clearance or something. nothing wrong with the install was found. they took it out and had propane central heat installed.

i know of another couple that had heated with a wood stove for 40 years and never had a problem. one day he left in a hurry for the store. he had left the damper open too far and left a chair too close to the unit. he lost a lifetime of photographs, antique fly rod collection, etc. he was bummed and said he wasn't ever getting another wood stove. i know most people never have a problem with them however.

<What's a piscatologist?>

i just like to fish, haven't had much time in recent years however. :o(

just curious how much propane cost now where you live?

A piscatologist is the specialist who gets called in when the general vet is stumped by a tough case of feline urinary incontinence.
