Puck,

I am long NOK and not MOT, but I think this statement of yours is incorrect:

Unlike GE, none of Motorola's businesses are first or second in their respective industries

The last I looked, MOT was #2 in the handset business. It was way behind NOK, but comfortably ahead of ERICY. Given this, I think your corollary that MOT's handset business is beyond reclamation is premature.

Hi Puck,

Your description of MOT is based on their current line-up, am I correct? There is a great deal of 'buzz' about MOT's upcoming GPRS offerings. As far as my Nokia investment is concerned I would be interested in anything you may have heard regarding competition in the GPRS area.

I have said before that IMHO the real story for Nokia this year will be progress in the GPRS sphere. If MOT is gearing up for a major push in this area then it will be worth keeping an eye on.
