I think it is fine to be rigid and inflexible on moral issues personally. But I think it is wrong to use the machinery of the state to interfere in the personal morality of others except on a limited basis. I don't think it is necessary to respect all differences- I don't, for example, respect child molesters. I don't think they've made a moral choice I can embrace. Adultery, though not as bad as molestation, is right up there for me. But I would not use the machinery of the State to prevent it, either. You can't expect everyone to live by your personal morality anymore than I can expect you to live by mine.

I think you may have just answered a question which I didn't ask...<g> I said nothing about religion, or morality, or about "alternative lifestyles," or anything of the sort... my question was not so broadly based as to include those wide variety of topics... and for the above reasons, you're judgement of my values may have been misstated..... you know nothing about my thoughts on those other topics.....

My question was very simple and I was addressing only one issue... the focus of my question is aimed at the personal visceral reactions of Hillary and their daughter upon learning about their husband's/father's actions... even if this family has a very open marriage, there are still stigmas attached to Clinton's behavior in the broader framework of society and my question was addressing the personal issues of the wife and child in this very particular instance for these specific two people... I was not trying to open a philosophical discussion about morality or ethics... you may have missed the simple point of my question.....<g>
