Of course- I agree with you- the "world" does not operate in accord with anyone's principles, the world simply is. Groups of people- different people in different groups- enforce their different moralities in their different societies- some are more lenient than others but they all have rules. I do not think having a rigid personal code means you cannot live in a tolerant society- but it certainly depends on what you choose to be rigid about.
