What is it you want from X? She isn't going to change her mind. You're never going to agree and this has already gotten ugly. When someone makes veiled physical threats, even in jest, they are in reptile brain mode. You can make excuses for it and say it was provoked, but Edwarda is dead. SHE is beyond caring.

People who wear their feelings outside should be making those feelings clear privately. This looks like some sort of ritual combat where the kind of things X says (which I think are frequently cruelly funny, and insightful) are being framed in a matter that is really appropriate for personal communication. It is definitely OT even for this thread because it seems personal.

Just to give my $0.02, there are certain people that I FORBID to be at my funeral (a VP at my former company, for example. ) If he asks to come, I told my wife he can't. I didn't like him in life and I don't think I'll like him when I'm dead. I don't want him talking to my kids, patting my wife on the shoulder or saying anything nice about me. He didn't say anything nice about me when I was alive (except to my face) and he'll be a pr!ck after I'm dead if he out lives me. I don't expect him to pretend to like me when I'm gone. X, it would seem, is particularly sensitive about that kind of duplicitous behavior and isn't afraid to say so.
