<That can't fully protect you from the slings and arrows of your schoolmates and the rest of the cruel world. Bill and Hill understood the pressure their daughter would be under as First Daughter and tried in so many ways to shield her.>

In life, the bottom line is to know thyself. As long as you have that and the support of your family and a few friends, that is all that matters.

When I think of some of the divorced women I know with two to three kids, leaving their oldest child to babysit every other night while they go out desperately seeking to fall in love again, I know what you mean when you call children "victims" of broken marriages. In contrast, when parents can continue to live in the same house for their children's sake and amicably adjust their lifestyles when their marriage is over in order to provide their children with guidance and love, the children are not being treated like victims.

Morever, I live in the suburbs of NYC, not in some little redneck hicktown where people have nothing better to do than talk about others and judge.
