Joan, there is nothing like Fred in biotech. There is a medical tech newsletter that has a lot of good info, but I can't remember its name. However, it never really disses the macro environment and is fairly bullish on nearly everything all the time. I remember back on Prodigy when I announced that I was shorting Chiron (there were no puts at the time). I was told that I was crazy because nobody anywhere was recommending shorting the bios. And the writers were definitely right on the latter point and probably closer than they knew on the "nuts" part.

Biotech, like electronic tech, is a rapidly changing area where an analyst needs access. One bearish report can mean access denied. However, IMHO, if you have access and don't tell the truth about what you find out, you may as well not have it.

The SI biotech group is really good. Much better than Jim McCamant or Michael Murphy.
