Alt8: Don't buy too strongly into the "big-money-on-the-sidelines" idea. It isn't backed by the facts and figures emanating from the fund followers (Trimtabs) and it doesn't jibe with what I am being told by some fund managers. Also keep in mind that the pros are well aware that the bear is getting stronger and appear to be selling into the rallies. Not all of them, but enough. The shorts no longer represent a consequential element in this market IMHO. Many of the big shorts got blown away last year and most of the others are gunshy. This market does not enjoy a normal "short cushion", at least not at the moment. Best, Earlie
