When day trading I find that which stock or stocks you choose to trade is very important. Right now I like WCOM
because it usually is not moving too fast for me, probably because there is enough volume to give me ample time to make my decisions. Plus the stock is cheap making it more affordable to trade large blocks. Usually I will not trade right off the open. I will wait until the stock establishes a pattern. I don't claim to be a great trader but I have been doing very well with WCOM and will continue to trade this way until it does not work for me.

For many people, charts are particularly difficult to read at major tops and bottoms.
