Don, I am not aware of any writings where Dr. Richebacher dismisses the impact of trade barriers and fiscal policy but he does make a compelling case that the bust was the inevitable outcome of the excesses engendered during the boom. He has addressed this at length in his newsletters this link is a 5 page excerpt of one of his issues gold-eagle.com . During the Japanese bubble days we were told that Japan would not repeat the policy mistakes of the US Fed during the 30s yet the slump in Japan continues. I am not aware of any substantial change in trade policies with Japanese goods. I don't think anyone argues that Japanese exports have been substantially restricted by changes in trade policies with other nations. I must emphasize that I use the word CHANGE as I am well aware that are in fact many barriers to trade - both tariff and non tariff. Mike ho ho ho
