Nadine says>>I do believe that if Gore had been 300 votes ahead after the automatic recount, Katherine Harris would have interpreted the law rather differently.

Nadine I do believe that you are basically a dishonest person because the reason you believe the above is that if you were in that position you would do whatever, even if dishonest so that your goals could be met.

I believe just the opposite of you because I know I would honor the oath of office that I swore to God. I have no reason to suspect Ms Harris of dishonesty. Is the democrat party going to pay the 3 plus million in expenses caused by the forcing of a pointless recount. Al Gore played a game and he did not care who or what it cost.

You see being honest before God has meaning to many. Those who don't know the meaning seem always to believe that all hold their belief in the ends justify the means.

Dear Nadine: I am not a lawyer, but if you just look at it sensibly you can tell JUST BY THE DATES that the State Legislature when they enacted the LAW, in no way considered extensive HAND recounts of a national election. As I said earlier, manual recounts are only appropriate in such a situation if the conditions similar to Acts of God warrant it. Now, as to local elections, thats a different matter. I am hopeful though that we will FINALLY dispose of these votamatic (punch card) systems found incidentally ONLY in Democrat counties which are so easy to pervert. JDN
