It is difficult to keep them out, so I don't try. Bluejays do not seems to travel in groups, so there aren't that many. Crows do, and every time I see them (at least in the spring when the babies are present), I yell, "Crows! Begone!" Being the most intelligent of birds, they cooperate. <g> Same with grackles.

Also the mockingbirds, being territorial, keep them away.

The funny thing, we have 2 ducks which appear every spring and sit in our yard each morning. When the dogs go out, they naturally chase them. But they stay within our invisible fence. So the ducks (and the deer, btw) have learned to go to the neighbor's yard and watch them.

Hi, kha vu...glad you could join us! We have tons of cardinals here and all year long. I try to satisfy the bluejays with the dried corn that I feed the squirrels. They also love broken up bread.

Yes, mockingbirds are plentiful here as well and do have such beautiful songs! Don't you just love it when they get around each other and start their little "dance"? They hop and flip their wings!

I can remember when my little girl was in nursery school, her name is Robyn, she came home with a picture of a Blue Jay that she had colored. I was praising her coloring ability and she stopped me short by saying..."We don't like Blue Jay's, they eat Robin birds' eggs."

She always differentiated between herself and the bird by calling them "Robin bird".
