The adventures were wonderful, as always; what was less wonderful was returning to the world on Monday morning and finding that the hard drive on my laptop had quietly joined the ranks of the deceased, leaving me with an attractive and expensive paperweight. My four-year-old daughter's computer simultaneously developed some internal ailment and had to be packed off for repair, leaving her in great distress. So now we're down to two computers for three of us, clearly an intolerable situation. I get to use my son's machine, which is much more powerful than mine, so it's no so bad, except for the loss of the project I worked on all last week, which now has to be resuscitated rather quickly, as there's another urgent job creeping up. I am tempted to give it up and go sailing again, but that wouldn't do at all. At least I will be kept away from the boxing ring, which seems a good place to avoid today.
