After our 2nd burst rally, we will resume the steady selling, IMO. I expect each day this week to be down or close to it. . . with the lowest point coming on Thurs/Friday. I'll be playing accordingly, mostly on the short side. . . dotted with the breakout January Effect small/micro cap swing trades. Once again, the stealth rally will happen behind the scenes of the Nasdaq selloff. So continue to watch the stocks and the sectors and not just the index, or you may miss the most important part of what is happening during January. Make hypothetical portfolios of various types of techs. . . microcaps, high-fliers, value techs, small caps with heavy growth, etc. . .and watch how they tend to trade. . . .learn from what you see. . .and trade from what you learn. Amazing long opportunities this month. Our long buys of value techs back in mid-December was terrific. Many thought we entered too soon. So what else is new? Refer to the "Millenium" post from Dec. 29 for my detailed thoughts on January trading. Burst number 3 is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 22, IMO, [unless we are thrown a curve ball and this week sees big gains]. And I do believe there will be a 4th burst before Ground Hogs Day. Just be careful not to lose your gains during the selloffs between bursts. That is why I am mostly short this week. . .but will be focusing on the small and microcap breakouts. That is where the most volatility is and where the most significant percentage gains will occur once again. But just don't assume that your stock will recover from any selloffs. . . the January Effect is typically short in duration. So your little babies had better be under accumulation this week, or they may get spanked right back down. . as short-sellers re-enter and regain their control over the thinly traded issues over the course of the week. Best wishes to all. . . Rande Is
