Update, and I can't believe I have spent the better part of two days on this. The APC techs tried but to no avail. Spoke
to two of them and each had me download a different installation program, the second one telling me that I should not have done what the first guy told me. Anyway no help and still got "updating hardware information database"
Finally went to MICRON and got someone that looked at several things and finally went to DOS via the factory installation disk and reset my system to an earlier date.
He seems to think that the problem was software related, driver or something. Since I have had the machine for more than 30 days any software issues will be handled by a 900 (charged) number.
Don't know what to do now but am afraid to try to use the USB port.
My greatest concern at this point is finding out that I did
not get a copy of the operating system to reinstall if necessary. The CD's supplied, I think, just restores to what it was when it left the factory, and erases everything I have done since. I appreciate Bill's concern about pirated software, but think that if I buy one machine I should have one copy of the OS.
