It seems that Peng's son, Xiapeng is some kind of muckety-muck in the state power ministry and this may prove to be the direct tie to implicating Li Peng indirectly. I have to say that I have considerable admiration for Zhu Rhonghi and the efforts he has made to modernize both the political and economic systems in China. But he still doesn't have the support of the army and that is a major factor in controlling China. But since the Army leadership have their own hands in the economic pie through their extensive operations in state owned industries, Zhu Ronghi is not exactly their favorite guy either.Just don't mess up communism with religion. Communism is the ANTI-RELIGION, which by default makes it an ideological religion, and not merely a political or economic overlay on society. Communism is the end all, be all, for society. The State becomes the religion... the answer to the people's prayers and hopes. People have no right to individual rights as everything is own by the collective through the centralized state. There is no room for any dissident belief contrary to the religious status of the state. And the fact is that the Chinese leadership is hell bent to stamp out any religions that compete with their atheistic ideological humanistic deity. Now let me add a bit of flavor to all of this. Take christianity for example. It is a religion that originated in ancient Israel mainly amongst reformist and messianic Jews. It was then evangelized to the gentiles by the Apostle Paul, himself a Jew. It then spread throughout Greece, Turkey, and Italy and into Europe. Thus, christianity was/is a "foreign" religion that was eventually adopted by 100s of millions of ethnic groups who have no genetic or social connection to the Jews or the semitic people. So when you get worried about the fact that western values are invading China with "dangerous" thoughts, remember that those ideas originally were "eastern" and the west was previously "invaded" and survived to its betterment. With all kinds of fundamentalists sitting out there ready to arm against China or US, we got to be scared somewhat Get a grip Q... It hasn't been the US leadership who have threatened to nuke Bejing over Taiwan. Chinese generals have threatened to turn Los Angeles into a massive radioactive parking lot (maybe not a bad idea when you come to think about it... :0) Chinese generals have threatened to invade Taiwan, or launch missile or aerial strikes against them... The US has not threatened to invade China. Chinese military leaders have attempted to intimidate the Philipines over ownership of the Spratly Islands.news.bbc.co.uk news.bbc.co.uk alamo-girl.com cgi.cnn.com freerepublic.com A nation with a Billion people has NO JUSTIFIABLE REASON TO BE SCARED OF ANYONE (except another nation with a billion people.. :0) That would mean that China should be more frightened of India than it is the US.
