Hi hdl - it is not necessarily *speculation*. These stks have gone thru the blender in the tax loss selling season last Oct thru Dec. They should benefit from the January effect. Additionally, while high or no p/e stks are indeed unfavorable, they are not necessarily no value. IMHO, dotcom depression is no more justifiable than dotcom mania. While I didn't pick the bottom with my entries in CMGI and ENGA either, I am hopeful that not only they will survive the recent onslaught, but also they will prosper if mgt doesn't drop the ball.

best, Bosco

I don't think this is a wild speculation trip but it is a 10 bagger.

Look at it this way:
The FED killed the IPO market - absolutely dead. It was simple - they raised rates so so high that nobody could borrow money.

Now we have the opposite starting to happen. FED lowers rates. Money will loosen up. IPOs will start again. Then the DCLKs of the world will feed off the new IPOs and life in the pond renews itself.

Consider that the IPO factories (CMGI, ICGE, RRRR, etc) are so beaten down that just one single IPO will cause their net to skyrocket. That's where the 10 bagger comes in. So you buy now and sit tight as the IPO market starts up (it takes a few months). ATHM, though in a different category, also has the 10 bagger possibility (ie there is real reason for this stock to go that high).

I can't agree with the others YHOO, PCLN - no driving force. Unless YHOO merges with disney or somebody but that is a wild play.
