Thanks, Daniel. I find it difficult to extract philosophy from science and religion personally. I have a remote view of this stuff. There are "hard and fast rules" of science that I apply in my work, but I recognize that aspects of design are certainly not hard and fast, and are more philosophical and spiritual. For example, what is a "good design". I recount the story I tell of my friend whose dog died and the pastor wouldn't tell him he'd see his dog in Heaven. This started my friend thinking about the whole set of dog-ma (heehee) and he started to question a lot of the other "givens".

Good designs tend to come from people who question the "givens". My philosophy/religious POV view seems to come from the same ethic and is therefore hardly ever inconsistent. I don't like inconsistency, yet I embrace duality! Wow! I guess I'd call duality "inconsistency that comes with rules".
