Did they sell any more trash???

>>Gains on investments and interest and other were $799 million in the fourth quarter, higher than revised expectations of $675 million, primarily due to a $117 million realized gain from the transfer of Intel's Interactive Media Services division to Convera, a new publicly traded company formed with Excalibur. Intel recognized a gain on the portion of the business and related assets transferred in which Intel does not retain an ownership interest.<<

Sharp pencils? how much does that contribute to BPS?

Can't wait to see Fleck's take on INTC tonight in The Rap.

Funny (but not surprising) how Bubblevision is trying to paint the -15% guidance as 'no big deal.' I flipped the channel to CNNfn and they were talking about what a disaster INTC was...you'd think the two stations were talking about different companies.

Intel wins the Doublespeak award, hands down.

Can someone decode this into english? I read it as basically saying "FUCK YOU" to the Sec and small investors. They appear to be disclaiming themselves from liability for ignoring the new SEC fair disclosure rules. It appears that they say they will meet with analysts continually- and they "may" keep their comments in line with the publicly information, or they may not "reitterate" it-- being a unspoken word to analysts that things have changed.

THESE GUYS TAKE THE CAKE!

------------------------

Intel expects that its corporate representatives will meet privately during the quarter with investors, the media, investment analysts and others. At these meetings Intel may reiterate the Outlook published in this press release. (or it may give them new non-public info, they are REALLY saying) At the same time, Intel will keep this press release and Outlook publicly available on its Web site (www.intc.com). Prior to the start of the Quiet Period (described below), the public can continue to rely on the Outlook on the Web site as still being Intel's current expectations on matters covered, unless Intel publishes a notice stating otherwise.

Beginning Mar. 17, 2001, Intel will observe a \223Quiet Period\224 during which the Outlook as provided in this press release and the company's quarterly report on Form 10-Q no longer constitute the company's current expectations. During the Quiet Period, the Outlook in these documents should be considered to be historical, speaking as of prior to the Quiet Period only and not subject to update by the company. During the Quiet Period, Intel representatives will not comment concerning Outlook or Intel's financial results or expectations. The Quiet Period will extend until the day when Intel's next quarterly Earnings Release is published, presently scheduled for April 17, 2001.

they supplied an honest sounding forecast for a change. sounded like the script for a tech horror movie. presumably they're preparing everybody for the worst so they can then proceed to 'beat estimates' again. reality wasn't asked if it will co-operate, and may yet undermine this crafty plan.
