I'm not sure! In that kind of situation the short cover by converting the convertible not by buying stock on the open market. In any case as far as they old the convertible they have a kind of free license to short again. If you are not familiar with this kind of situation you might go to the ONT thread and list post by Zeev Hed or make a search on si with Zeev and floorless as keywords. He has a good knowledge of that kind of stinky convertible and even have a patent on the Floorless word... Good luck.
