Really I couldn't be a politician because I wouldn't be any good at talking out of both sides of my mouth and thowing money at constituencies to appease them.

Isn't this the signatures of the parties? It's like both look for the lowest common denominator and distinguish themselves (if you can call it that) with rather shallow and superficial stances. All-in-all, the purpose seems to be promote power structures. It is all a matter of who's agenda repels you least. I like personal liberty and am not a Christian - so guess who's corner I'm drawn to?

I don't think we should allow religion to be a tax dodge, but I realize it is so ingrained that it is unlikely to be removed. Homeowners aren't going to line up to overturn mortgage deductions. People who have wealth will not line up to give it away. The real problem that faces the US is that there is a growing disparity between rich and poor and many noveau riche butt-brains don't care. One has to look past their next vacation, Beamer and gold watch and see what is coming down the pike.

What I see doesn't look that good for a lot of people. It doesn't look good for the environment. It doesn't look good for the health care system. It does look pretty good if you already have a whole bunch of money but only for the short term. Otherwise I'm at a loss - don't these anti-environment idiots eat food, breath air and have to look out their windows? Balanced land use means rape the earth and let our kids deal with the mess. Heck, that's worked for decades, why stop now?
