Max Pain was one my all time favorite linebackers

Didn't he play for the Steelers in the '70s?

;-)

The Steel Curtain - AKA Max Pain

FWIW, I only went to a handfull of games when the Steel Curtain ruled, but rarely missed a game on the tube. The Steelers of the 70's were a once in a lifetime team. There were no glaring weaknesses on those teams..... Indeed, there were a slew of future Hall of Fame players there.

For most of the 70's, the AFC Central was the Black & Blue division. Quite often, Cincy & Cleveland were good enough to make the playoffs in any other division in the league..... but not the AFC Central Division..... the Steelers & Houston were a cut above in the AFC Central..... For several years Pittsburgh & Houston were arguably the 2 best teams in the league..... they played each other twice & often met a third time in the playoffs..... and still the Steelers won 4 Super Bowls in 6 years.

Yep..... Max Pain..... when the Steelers of the 70's played you..... your options were about to expire...... worthless.
