The bank declined to quantify its exposure to troubled California utilities that face possible bankruptcy, but Shapiro said the loans would not have a dramatic impact on the bank's earnings outlook, no matter what happened. The loans were not considered nonperforming, he added.

``They are still considered investment grade,'' Shapiro said. ''We also believe a solution is fairly imminent.''
