Dave: You bet I remember -- great calls on EXDS, ELNT, and many others. I've mostly been on vacation the past month, but stashed away some BVSN, KLAC, RNWK, and DCLK before freeing myself from the computer: nice intermediate-term holds. The one that got away is CIEN; I had considered a buy-and-hold from low prices, but was too nervous to buy it if I wasn't going to be babysitting it. Too bad--.

This market wants to go up into the Fed, I think, but I believe it has another rough patch ahead after the FOMC and the fourth-quarter earnings season. The outlook stinks to high heaven. That INTC forecast was a nightmare, much worse than anyone expected. Everyone thinks the big increase in capex is good news, but I'll tell you why they are putting out the big bucks now: because they're getting the hardware at firesale prices. They're the only ones in line to buy the gear! The market loves it today; but that is just because the analysts haven't yet connected the dots and realized this in fact is a sign of extreme weakness in the semi-equip market. I'll be interested to see what next year's margins look like for the gear makers!

I'm planning to start accumulating MACR when the wash-out winds down. It projects EPS of 1.70 for next year, with top-line growth of 60 percent. Not bad for a stock selling around 30!
