The public does not support Dubya's tax cut, nor do I, even though it will put about $20,000 in my pocket annually. A majority of voters voted against him, and a plurality of voters gave more votes to his major opponent than they gave to him. The public's support for the issues you identify is, for the most part, a GOP myth. The GOP supporters support it - the rest of us think it is irresponsible fiscal or social policy. But I hope you figure out how much the public does NOT support these things the hard way -- through trial and error.
