So I guess you're saying the Supreme Court voted in favor of states rights on a gun issue so they should vote in favor of states rights on a voting issue? The issues have nothing in common.

Mephisto, get your facts straight.

Frankly, I didn't vote and would not have voted for either mickey or mouse.

Nonetheless, the U.S. Supreme Court vote was 7-2 in the case and not 5-4 that a violation of federal law was involved.

caselaw.lp.findlaw.com

The Court specifically found that the "counting of improperly marked ballots" and the attempt to implement only a manual recount of the "undervote," but ignoring the implications of about 110,000 "overvotes," without the benefit of any uniform standards" violated a federal mandate.

Residing in this state, I believe Gore simply chose the wrong state to do battle. Then, if Gore had carried his own state of TN (11 electoral votes) or even Clinton's state AR (6 votes), it never would have been an issue. Now, take some medication, and you will get another chance in about 4 years.

With all due respect to Bill's thread and JMHO and BWDIK.

Mebbe we ought to PM this stuff? Although from a longer view, the elections will certainly affect the markets... I still see little short-term impact there!

BWDIK?
