IMHO what's happening here is a slow shake-out of the weak bears; the market tempts them with dips, but dips that have higher and higher bottoms, tempting the bears to hold onto their losing shorts just like the lower and lower highs that mesemerized the weak bulls last year. By the March-April time frame, all the weak bears will have capitulated and weak bulls with all four hooves in the market (around 3000-3200 on $compx), then Mr. Market will be ready to head down another 2000 points to 1200.
