>>How much is the word of a radical left wing extremist worth?<<
No less than the word of a right wing extremist.
"George Nethercutt is the fellow who won office pledging
to serve only three terms. Now he's breaking his word.
His betrayal of the people of Eastern Washington is a
sad commentary on the corruptible nature of man. But
the encouragement Nethercutt has gotten from the
Republican leadership — big dollars and other reelection
help — all to double-cross the voters, well, that's truly
despicable."

I believe Dem Kent Conrad did the same - altho w/ a different twist - he said he would not run again if the budget was not in balance - and it wasn't when he broke his pledge.

Moynihan ran in 1988 pledging that it was his last term. He ran for two more w/o a single mention in the NYTimes about him breaking his word.

And Clinton ran for governor in 1990, lying, saying he would serve out his term if re-elected.
