Jeff, John, et al: Don't fret. I do not foresee the possibility of settlement and I intend to keep this lawsuit as public as it should be. I will predict that the next few months will be quite revealing and exciting once the Varian SLAPP plaintiffs are ordered to stop road-blocking the discovery process. In particular, look for rulings from the Feb 14 2001 hearing on the Plaintiffs' Motions to Quash depositions, subpoenas, etc. Meanwhile, some very interesting depos are noticed for this month. For example a frequent SLAPP declarant and former Varian employee, Jim Fair is noticed for his videotaped deposition for the end of January: geocities.com Stay tuned!
