Cisco sees China sales reaching $1.0 bln

BEIJING, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Top network equipment maker Cisco Systems Inc is aiming to attain an annual sales rate in China of $1.0 billion this year and make it the firm's number two market in three to five years, CEO John Chambers said on Thursday.

``We anticipate hitting a billion dollar run-rate by the end of our fiscal year,'' Chambers told reporters during a two-day stop in China.

He also said the company was ``not immune'' to a slowdown in corporate spending in the United States, but said he expected U.S. spending to recover after two quarters if the government adopted favourable economic policies.

Eric,

Kinda going through a number of high tech charts today - including the NAZ. I can't help but notice that all are either very near or have broken through their 50 DMA. OTOH CSCO is still well off the 50 DMA... (which is up around 47-48). I can't help but wonder if that means that we have room or what... but I just found this data point interesting. What's your thinking? The P&F chart still looks very healthy although a pullback to 38 wouldn't be terrible.
