Zeev,

The back end tends to be all turns business; has close to zero visibility even in the best of times. CMOS needs increase in wafers/chips.

I expect no advance notice from them once business picks up.

Ian

Zeev, I agree it is important to watch Intel, in terms of how the company is doing. But is it really that significant to watch their stock price anymore. Their amazing run of consistent fantastic profit growth is over and they are approaching utility status. Nice and safe long term but new leaders (in terms of large cap stock performance) will emerge.

I still think they are a superb operation in terms of technology, but they have reached a size and market penetration that limits their growth.

In response to other comments from someone else regarding Intel and AMD, I believe Intel is going to seriously hurt AMD this year in terms of market share. They are building those 0.13 fabs (and also have three 300mm wafer fabriction plants under construction to supply masses of silicon), and with sales slow until those fabs start coming on line later this year, they have the slack to crank out a lot of cheap P4's. If they can bring the clock speed up to 1.7GHz, they will also kill a lot of the criticism about their new architecture being slower with current software than the Athlon/P3.
