Tenchusatsu,

re: ratio of AMD's capital expenditures vs. revenue,
So the less AMD earns, the higher your artificial ratio will be

Revenues and earnings are 2 distinct terms. I am not saying that it is inherently good to spend on capital equipment, but some people here are under the impression that Intel is somehow outdistancing AMD.

If AMD wants 30% market share, but AMD's share of capital spending will only be 16.7% of the total (between Intel and AMD only)

How much of the $7.5 billion is solely for CPU? If it is 50% CPU, 50% flash (the same as AMD) we are looking at:
$3.75b Intel
$1.00b AMD
$4.75b combined

With AMD share 21% and Intel's share 79%. I would be content with this kind of market share distribution at the end of 2001.

then AMD will really have to bet on wishful thinking to achieve their long-standing goal.

14% -> 17% -> 21% seems like a good progression to me.
