I use and love Cookie Pal:

kburra.com

I have it set to accept SI's cookies, my broker's cookies and a few other sites and to reject everything else. Cookie pal works with all versions of IE but not with Netscsape 6.0.

PCmagazine recently rated Cookie Crusher higher though:
zdnet.com
thelimitsoft.com
The interfaces look very similiar but Cookie Crusher has the added feature of telling you the likely purpose of newly encountered cookies to help you decide whether or not to accept them.

hi kc

"Do you manually delete all your cookies? Some of them are useful, however picking and choosing what to delete is an awful task."

for sure, there is no right way or wrong way to handle cookies. it has to be something that works for you.

that said, the answer to your question is yes and no. <g3> meaning, i use a variety of methods. but the results are always the same. i get rid of cookies pretty fast. usually every day. it troubles me not to have to enter a password here or a username there. it's worth it to me to not have the little foreign object attached to my harddrive , sending info about my pc habits to some unknown location. i find them to be quite intrusive and arbitrary. but necessary.

i dump cookies and temp files using the browser's built in method (slightly different in both internet explorer and netscape communicator), and i also use a norton utility called cleansweep. in addition, on my win98se partition i use a piece of freeware written for netscape called comclear ( neuro-tech.net ) that wipes out cookies, cache and the location bar in one click. it's super sweet, imo.

so, to make a long story endless, i am probably the exception rather than the rule when it comes to cookie shelf life. all this junk just multiplies so rapidly, that it's refreshing for me to wipe it all away. there'll be plenty more to take its place tomorrow!

good luck

:)
