It's not a topic I usually talk about; it is obscure, and few others have anything to say about it, which makes the discussion a bit monotonous. I started looking into it only because I've lived in the Philippines a long time and thus had a reason to start exploring the Philippine/American interface. It's an eye-opening exploration, and it's easy to see why it was removed from the history books.

Once some years back, while visiting in the US, a high school teacher asked me to give a presentation on the topic to his class. I did, and the presentation got an immediate, vocal and very negative response from the parents of the students, most of whom were convinced beyond reason that none of it could possibly be true.

People are strange.

I haven't been to free speech yet; I can't keep up with the threads I've already bookmarked, so I'm avoiding new ones. Especially the ones with good company, which can be terribly addicting.

I'd love to hear what your thoughts are about the Philipine-American history. Please share when you have time.

EEK: I meant this for Steven. But I'd like to hear what you have to say as well, babe...
