...it is serious, DJ ~ though the situation is so dire today as to feel kinda "climactic" ~ something's gotta give.

it is a politically complex situation, too ~ lotsa turf wars and pissing matches goin' on between FED : STATE, Clinton : Bush transition (no love lost between Texans and Californians), and PCG+EIX utility private industry and public/advocacy special interest groups.

For the folks on the street the situation is unbelievable; ie., there is a lot of denial going on ~ after all, you're living in this supposedly rarefied place and suddenly you've got real, third-world like blackouts and brownouts + soaring utility bills as well as rising prices for commodities, too ~ like milk (anything refrigerated) and plant/production disruptions around the BayArea, including SillyValley.

Tremendous demand for: (1) portable generators; (2) solar panels; and, (3) battery-operated/backup electronic/communication devices...

...not to mention, MadameGonzo has surrounded us with scented candles ~ place looks like a cross between a Catholic Church and a New Orleans CatHouse {grin} and all my friends have been/are replacing their desktops with laptops (^_^)
