Pre-market Update for Thursday, January 18, 2001 Posted Thursday, January 18, 2001,
FOREIGN MARKETS: The Nikkei closed 1.51% higher while the Hang Seng closed up 1.75%. In Europe, Germany is down 0.84%, France is down 0.54% and the UK is down 0.02%.

FUTURES: The SPOOS are currently +1.50 and the NASDAQ futures are +16.50 from the Globex overnight session. Bond Futures are currently down ^7 and the Dow futures are up 57 points. As of now we are looking at a broad market gap up.

(AVCI) This morning AVCI reported earnings for Q4 of a loss of $0.26/share and BEAT the First Call consensus of (0.29)/share by $0.03/share.

(KEI) Keithley Instruments reported Q1 this morning of $0.42/share. They BEAT the First Call consensus of $0.40/share by $0.02/share.

(OPWV) Morgan Stanley Starts Openwave At Strong Buy, $80 Goal.

(ITWO) i2 Technologies reported Q4 after the bell of $0.09/share. They BEAT the First Call estimate of $0.08/share by $0.01. Year-ago earnings were $0.05/share. Revenues rose 115.6% to $377.90.

Revenues for the quarter were $1 billion, down 57 percent. International Sales accounted for 49% of Q1 revenue. CS First Boston Keeps Apple At Hold, Reduces Estimates. (MERQ) Mercury Interactive reported Q4 after the bell of $0.28/share. They BEAT the First Call consensus of $0.24/share by $0.04/share. CIBC Clips Mercury Interactive Target To $100 From $145.

(SCNT) Scient reported Q3 after the the bell of Pro Forma earnings at (0.13)/share. They BEAT the First Call consensus of (0.16)/share by $0.03/share. They said they cut 450 jobs during the last quarter.
