Could well be. Most of these guys are using metal studwork for interior walls where "load" (as in bearing) isn't a factor.

The one I wacked together in no time flat (once I got the hang of it) wasn't load bearing.

I can field that one. Tensile strength of steel is anywhere from 40X to 200X greater than wood, depending on the type of wood or steel. No competition at all in mechanical properties. You can't grow steel on the back 40 however. <g>
