I don't know about that. Cablevision is aggressively rolling out digital cable, with the cable modem service too. I jumped on it as soon as it was available and will never go back to dialup.

AT&T's future is practically dependent on their ability to roll out digital cable. I'm sure Paul Allen of Charter won't be left out either.

What could be better than any program on demand at any time, through your good old cable tv service? Seems like a natural progression to me. As well as a complete integration of TV and net surfin & email etc.
