I though that negative amortization loans were only allowed by banks in extreme circumstances, such as a recession.

Good luck to them.

I actually know folks in the U.S. who have "walked" on their mortgaged homes already. As the R.E. values come down and they can't sell for anything but a loss, they just take a hike.
